The Gift
An individual who experiences difficulties in an academic setting or in communicating with others is often gifted and talented in other ways. Often he/she has strong visual/spatial skills. This is a talent many creative people share.
It is what enables them to:
- find solutions for technical problems (like Leonardo da Vinci),
- invent new things (like Thomas Edison)
- tell amazing stories (like Walt Disney)
- develop uncommon people skills (like Winston Churchill)
and much, much more.
What do all of these people have in common? Obviously they were all enormously successful individuals in life. What many people do not know is that they were all what we might today label “learning disabled.”
Of course we will not always find all of these talents in everyone, but if we look, we will find that every person with learning difficulties has some special gifts.
